Agents

Brokerage Agents

Spitale Transportations is looking for brokerage agents who are primarily involved in the movement of flatbed type freight.

Agent Requirements

Agents shall have the following benefits and meet the following requirements:

  1. Agent shall have the benefit of working for a small stable company with a reputation of honesty and integrity that is growing (growing correctly) and will treat them as the valuable partner that they are. Spitale, Inc. / Spitale, Co. is only looking for ethical long term agents. Please do not apply if this does not fit you.

  2. Spitale, Co. is a for hire contract carrier and has auto liability insurance and cargo liability insurance. Spitale, Inc. is freight broker and has contingent auto liability insurance and contingent cargo liability insurance.

  3. Commission split of 60/40 for Spitale, Inc. and a flat 10% for Spitale, Co. Agent should set a target of 15% minimum gross average commission on their freight.

  4. Agent will not be required to dispatch Spitale, Co. trucks (that will be done by our company dispatchers) but will only have to handle brokerage trucks. All freight must be offered to available company trucks first before brokerage.

  5. Spitale, Co. is a specialized flatbed company with experienced drivers capable of oversize and time critical flatbed work. Spitale, Inc. / Spitale, Co. understand that all freight companies are called upon from time to time to move other types of freight; however agent should be involved primarily in flatbed type freight.

  6. Agent will have the benefit of working with a company for whom the senior management has worked as an agent before and has put together an agency program with that experience in mind. The agent will be able to work with a company that knows good customers are hard to acquire and will do everything they can to support you in your efforts. You will have the benefit of working with Spitale, Inc. / Spitale, Co.’s dispatch program. Each agent shall pay their own office and business expenses, except Spitale, Inc. / Spitale, Co. shall provide the agent with their load posting and truck search boards.  Payment shall be made to agent on a weekly basis with settlement checks being written the week each invoice reaches 10 days aging from when it was processed and mailed from the home office. Spitale, Inc. / Spitale, Co. for no more than 10 business days per year will offer to handle dispatching all agents’ loads which are tendered to Spitale, Inc. / Spitale, Co. from agent’s customers. Spitale, Inc. / Spitale, Co. shall make no attempt to solicit freight during this period but will make its best efforts to move customer’s freight that is tendered to us. The commission split will remain the same during this period. Agent shall be able to use one of the companies email accounts for their agency.

  7. This is how the numbers break down. It cost Spitale, Inc. / Spitale, Co. about 4% to run your freight through the company. This money covers insurance, operating cost, bad debt, financing etc. For an agent moving 1 million in freight that is about $40,000 per year. This is how the commission breaks down.

  • $1,000,000 in revenue at 13% gross commission, $71,500 to agent; $58,500 to company

  • $1,000,000 in revenue at 15% gross commission $82,500 to agent $67,500 to company       

  • $1,000,000 in revenue at 18% gross commission $99,000 to agent $81,000 to company
