Flatbed & Step Deck
Opportunities
Spitale, Co. is looking for flatbed and step deck owner operators (O/O) who want to be part of a great team. If you are a safe driver with some experience, and you live in the
hiring area, give us a
call.
- Lease package: 78% compensation pulling company trailer or 85% pulling your own trailer. Payment is made 7 business days after turning in the necessary paperwork. There is a monthly deduction for insurance cost from each O/O, ranging from $650 to $750 per month. Each O/O will need to supply his own physical damage insurance on his truck or the physical damage insurance may be purchased through the company. Fuel Taxes are charged back to the O/O. There is no escrow account and no other chargebacks are made to the O/O other than items purchased through the company such as fuel, tarps, repair service, etc.
- Occupational Accident insurance is purchased by company on each Owner Operator. We do offer a rider program to qualified O/O.
Recruitment and performance bonuses are paid. We provide a good work environment, and better than average home time. Deadhead miles are kept to a minimum and every effort is made to make each O/O comfortable and happy with his job. Physical damage insurance on O/O tractor is available for purchase through the company.
- Excellent paying freight will net to the truck approximately 1.92 @ 78% or 2.09 @ 85% loaded and empty miles. (number current July 2008)
- Pay package includes the following. 1) 78% or 85% of gross revenue
2) guaranteed minimum rates of .70 per mile + current FSC (currently .68
cents per mile) to truck 3) automatic minimum detention rates of $19.50
per hour to the truck after 4 hours of waiting. Weekend layover pay of
$150 per night of layover or minimum pay back to the house if truck
unloads within 800 miles of the drivers house. Layover or deadhead pay
only applies when driver is unloaded AM as scheduled on Friday thereby
giving dispatch a reasonable amount of time to load the truck. Deadhead
pay does not apply if driver unloads within 250 miles of their house or
during the normal situations where loads where considered one way loads.
These supplemental pay programs are not intended to take the normal risk
out of being an Owner Operator but are rather intended to insure that
the Owner Operator does not suffer when they have done everything
correctly as we have asked them to. At Spitale, Co. we consider our
Owner Operators to be valued partners and we treat them as such. All
conditions are subject to dispatcher discretion due to the specific
situations involved.
- Our company hauls oversize freight, structural, steel, machinery, equipment, and some lumber.
- Owner Operators must furnish their own base plate, email capable cell phone, and
all necessary equipment for flatbed work. Financing and assistance are available in these areas.
- Each O/O must be able to scale a minimum of 47K with a flatbed, and a minimum of 45K with a stepdeck. Each O/O must have clean, well-maintained equipment able to pass a Federal inspection, with a fender mounted mirror on the passenger side.
